Collagen Berry and Hemp Seed Smoothie Bowl

I prepare this collagen berry and hemp seed smoothie bowl at least twice a week. It takes less than ten minutes of work, and it is my favorite recovery meal after a heavy workout. This is a healthy breakfast that I crave. The smoothie bowl has an amazing flavor, and it is loaded with valuable nutrients.

You don’t need any cooking experience or skills to make this recipe. Although, you are going to need a powerful blender.
Another reason to make this smoothie bowl is that it tastes like an ice cream but it has health benefits. This smoothie bowl is a complete meal. You consume a good amount of protein, complex carbohydrates and healthy fats. There are so many essential nutrients in a single serving.
The ingredients in this recipe are well-known for boosting the immune system. The fruits are high on antioxidants, vitamins and fiber.
Hemp seeds and collagen provide essential amino acids. Collagen is the only supplement that I take regularly. I work out five times a week and as I age I lose collagen. To help my muscles and joints recover after training I add a scoop of collagen peptides in my drink. Hemp seeds and collagen peptides are also known to have benefits for the skin, hair, nails and gut health. To increase the benefits of this meal I made it with yogurt. This diary product is also very beneficial for your gut flora.
Furthermore, this smoothie bowl is sweetened with a banana and pitted date. These fruits add additional nutrition, and you don’t consume any refined sugars.

Helpful Tips
Use only frozen fruits for the collagen berry and hemp seed smoothie bowl. Use fresh fruits for toppings.
The yogurt should be unsweetened and whole. I don’t use and I don’t recommend using low fat yogurt for anything.
You might feel tempted to add water or milk to the mixture, but don’t do it. That is going to ruin the texture and consistency of the smoothie bowl. Start by pulsing the ingredients few times and stir between each cycle. I have a smoothie program on my blender, which is powerful enough to blend the ingredients together.
It is very important to use unflavored and unsweetened collagen peptides. I prefer using Vital Proteins, but you can use any brand that you like.

Collagen Berry and Hemp Seed Smoothie Bowl
Equipment
- High power blender
Ingredients
- ½ cup frozen blueberries
- ¼ cup frozen strawberries 3-4 strawberries
- 1 frozen banana small
- ½ cup Plain or Greek yogurt whole, organic
- 1 Tbsp hemp seed
- 1 Tbsp unflavored collagen peptides Vital Proteins
- 1 pitted date
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Banana, berries and hemp seeds for toping
Instructions
- Measure and add all ingredients in a blender.
- Pulse and blend until the mixture is smooth. Do not add extra water or milk! You may have to stir with a long spoon between each blending cycle to make sure that your mixture has no lumps.
- Serve with sliced fresh fruit (banana, berries) and hemp seeds.
