Layered Strawberry and Chocolate Oats in a Blender

This layered strawberry and chocolate oats makes me eager to get out of bed and have breakfast. There is no better way to break the fast than with a delicious and nutritious meal. This blended oat tastes like a dessert, but it is loaded with nutrients. This recipe contains a whole grain, dairy and fruit. These foods are rich in vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants. You need all of them to start the day right and keep your energy levels high throughout.

Why should you make this recipe?
This recipe will satisfy your cravings and your hunger. Unlike most blended oat recipes this one doesn’t require baking and waiting a whole night to consume it. You can prepare this layered strawberry and chocolate oats in thirty minutes in the morning. If you have some free time in the morning you can blend it and consume it after 10-15 minutes of refrigeration. It needs some time in the refrigerator so the chocolate layer on top can harden.
Oats is a very nutrient dense whole grain. You get a lot of health benefits when you consume complex carbohydrates. They are high in fiber, protein, antioxidants, and vitamins.
In this recipe you can use whatever milk and chocolate you like. This means that you can make this oats vegan and dairy-free if you want.
Oats is usually gluten-free. If you are sensitive to gluten read the label and ingredient list. Make sure that the oats you purchased is not processed in a facility that also stores or packages grains that contain gluten.

Helpful tips
For this recipe I used small 5 oz jars because the recommended oats serving is half a cup. Please listen to your body! If you feel like this is not enough food to satisfy you have some more. Everyone is different and has different needs.
I usually create a water bath to melt the chocolate. This means that I put a pot of simmering water underneath the bowl with the chocolate and I stir until it is melted. If the water in the water bath is boiling it might ruin the chocolate.
You can also melt the chocolate in the microwave. Put your chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and heat it for about a minute on high. Stop the microwave and stir it occasionally (every 15 seconds) so it doesn’t burn.
Make sure you removed the pit from your date before blending or you might break your appliance.
I’ve tried this recipe using three different blenders and I got best results with a smoothie maker.
Use whatever milk and chocolate you prefer. I used organic, whole milk and sugar-free chocolate chips form my favorite brand ChocZero.
For this recipe I used organic strawberry jam from Crofter’s. I like that it is lower in sugar than traditional jam. Of course, you can use your favorite brand.
