How to Make Tiramisu Hearts
Start by preparing the espresso mixture and let it cool.
In a bowl, mix the mascarpone, heavy cream, powdered sugar, liqueur, and vanilla until smooth. Transfer the cream to a piping bag.
Slice each ladyfinger diagonally and glue the halves together with Nutella or melted chocolate to form a heart shape. Briefly dip or brush the cookies with the espresso mixture.
Place the first layer of heart-shaped ladyfingers on a serving plate and pipe the cream on top. Add a second layer of dipped ladyfingers and pipe more cream to create a decorative finish.
Dust with unsweetened cocoa or cacao powder and serve right away, or refrigerate briefly until ready to serve.

Helpful Tips about Making Tiramisu Hearts
- Make the coffee mixture first – Let it cool before you start. This prevents burning your fingers when dipping the ladyfingers.
- Don’t overmix the cream – Mix just until smooth. Overmixing mascarpone can make it watery and ruin the texture.
- Use chocolate to glue the cookies – This step is essential. Without it, the hearts can fall apart once they absorb moisture.
- Dip the ladyfingers briefly – A quick dip works best. Too much soaking will make them soft and fragile. You can also brush the espresso on top for more control.
- No piping bag? No problem – Use a zip-top bag. Cut a small corner and insert your piping tip.
- No piping tip? Keep it simple – Pipe straight lines instead of roses. Keep them even for a clean, uniform look.
- Assemble on the serving plate – These hearts are delicate. Once assembled, they are hard to move without breaking.
- Dust right before serving – Add cacao or cocoa powder at the end for the best presentation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make tiramisu without eggs?
Yes, you can. These easy tiramisu hearts don’t contain raw eggs. The cream uses mascarpone and whipped cream instead. You still get a rich and creamy texture without the need for eggs.
Can tiramisu be served right away?

Can I make tiramisu ahead of time?
Yes. You can prepare the cream and espresso mixture in advance. Store them in the refrigerator. Assemble the tiramisu hearts right before serving for the best texture and presentation
How do I keep ladyfingers from getting soggy?
Dip them very briefly in the espresso mixture. Do not soak them. You can also brush the coffee on top instead of dipping. This gives you better control and keeps the cookies from falling apart.
Can I make tiramisu without alcohol?
Yes. You can skip the Baileys or replace it with extra coffee or a splash of vanilla extract. The dessert will still taste rich and flavorful.
What can I use instead of mascarpone cheese?
Mascarpone gives the best texture and flavor. If needed, you can use a mix of cream cheese and heavy cream. Keep in mind that the taste will be slightly different.
How long do tiramisu hearts last in the fridge?
They are best enjoyed fresh. If needed, you can store them in the refrigerator for up to 1–2 days. Keep them covered (in a cake stand) and dust with cacao powder right before serving.

Freezing is not recommended. The cream can change texture after thawing. For best results, make and serve them fresh.

Serving of The Tiramisu Hearts
Serve these easy tiramisu hearts as a dessert or a special treat. They are perfect for sharing and look beautiful on any table.
For the best presentation, dust with cacao or cocoa powder right before serving. You can also add chocolate shavings or fresh berries for an extra touch.

This dessert contains alcohol, so it is not suitable for individuals under 21 or for pregnant women.

Storage
Store the components separately for the best results. Keep the tiramisu cream and the espresso mixture in food-safe containers in the refrigerator for up to 2–3 days. This makes it easy to assemble fresh tiramisu hearts when needed.
You can also store assembled tiramisu hearts on a serving plate in the fridge for up to 1 day. Cover them lightly to protect the cream. Dust with cacao powder right before serving for the best look.
If you have leftovers, place them in a food-safe container with a lid and refrigerate for 1–2 days. The flavor will stay delicious, but the hearts will likely soften and lose their shape.

Instructions
Prepare the espresso mixture
- Prepare 2 cups of espresso coffee.
- In a deep dish or a bowl add the espresso with 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of Baileys Irish cream liqueur. Stir to combine.
To prepare the Tiramisu cream
- In a deep bowl add the Mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, powdered sugar, Baileys Irish cream liqueur and the vanilla extract. Use mixer to mix the ingredients together until you have a smooth cream.

- Transfer the cream in a piping bag with a large star tip.
To assemble the Tiramisu hearts
- Place a ladyfinger cookie on a cutting board or a flat surface and slice it in two diagonally.

- Use some Nutella, melted chocolate or some of the cream to glue the ladyfinger halves together to resemble a heart.

- Connect the two halves by joining the cut edges, with the pointed ends facing downward.

- Dip the cookies in the espresso mixture briefly and place them on a serving plate. Instead of dipping them you can also brush the coffee mixture on top of each cookie with a pastry brush.
- Pipe the tiramisu cream on top of the moist ladyfinger cookies. Make sure you pipe close enough so there are no gaps.

- Create another layer by repeating the same steps (slicing the ladyfinger cookie, glue together and dip in coffee). Then place it on top of the tiramisu cream you just piped.
- Pipe roses of cream on top of the second heart.

- Finish with a light dusting of unsweetened cacao or cocoa powder on top.Serve right away.

- Continue until you are out of piping cream or ladyfingers. I was able to make 10 hearts with this recipe.

- You can also refrigerate the cream and espresso mixture and assemble as needed.
