Why should you make the Pumpkin Oat Waffles?

They are nutritious and delicious. Oats is a very nutrient dense whole grain. You get a lot of health benefits when you consume complex carbohydrates. They are high in fiber, protein, antioxidants, and vitamins.

Oats is usually gluten free. If you are sensitive to gluten read the label and ingredient list. Make sure that the oats you purchased is not processed in a facility that also stores or packages grains that contain gluten.

Helpful tips about Making the Waffles

The first thing you have to do is to preheat your waffle maker. If it s not preheated well and you pour the batter the waffle most likely will stick terribly.

You need a powerful blender to make this batter. I use Blendtec and it does the job very well.

You can serve the waffles warm with toppings of your choice or you can make them ahead. I often make waffles and pancakes ahead and store them in the refrigerator. It is easy to reheat them in the morning. I usually use a toaster or a toaster oven to warm them up.

These waffles freeze well too. To defrost them add them in a microwave, toaster, or toaster oven. I have a defrosting program on my toaster that makes them perfectly warm and fluffy.

To make this recipe heart healthy replace the butter with olive oil and don’t serve the waffles with cream.
